Alpan Orthodontics is proud to offer the Lythos 3-D Digital Impression system. Check out Dr. Alpan talking about the Lythos scanner on our video. We are so proud to offer the most advanced orthodontic scanning technology to our patients, allowing us to digitally scan teeth without the hassles of impression materials. No more of the yucky goop and mess impressions. The Lythos Impression System effectively uses the power of digital scanning to capture intraoral data with precise accuracy. The scan can be used to manufacture Insignia/Damon, and most of the orthodontic appliances we use. Our patients prefer to be scanned using Lythos then taking a traditional messy impression. The Lythos wand is an ergonomically designed tool that was created for improved patient comfort and allows for painless access of the intraoral scan. Lythos does not use air pressure to dry the teeth as the iTero does, which is easier for our patients. The system features a touch screen display for flexible viewing of scans on screen and when entering patient data. Lythos uses an open system stereolithography (STL) file that can be easily integrated with other manufacturers to produce a variety of custom appliances.

If you are wondering what is stereolithography? It is also known as optical fabrication, photo-solidification, solid free-form fabrication and/or solid imaging. It is utilized in additive manufacturing or 3-D printing technology used for producing models, prototypes, patterns, and production parts up one layer at a time by curing a photo-reactive resin with a UV laser or another similar power source. Currently Insignia & AOA lab can use the STL file to make any of our orthodontic appliances. That means from your initial scan we can create a diagnosis, and custom treatment plan with insignia/Damon. At Alpan orthodontics we have found that since we have introduced this technology we are delivering more accurate and precise orthodontic appliances that ultimately reduce your treatment time, your time in the chair and improve your overall comfort and experience.
